The Roots of My Calling

A journey from survival to sovereignty, where lived experience became medicine and medicine became my life’s work.

Before I ever became a guide for others, I was a woman searching for her own way back home.

My early life was marked by trauma, silence, and survival mode.

I carried the weight of childhood wounds, unhealthy attachments, and the invisible armor I thought I needed just to survive.

Then came my diagnosis with Lupus—a moment that cracked me open. My body was breaking down, and the systems I turned to for help failed me. I felt trapped inside an endless cycle of pain, depletion, and fear.

This led me down the path of herbal medicine—to which I owe my life.

What began as a desperate attempt to survive became the doorway to a new way of living. The plants met me where nothing else could. They restored my strength, revived my spirit, and gave me back a vitality I thought I had lost forever.           I could have never imagined then that plant medicine would not only transform my health so completely but also position me on a path to help heal so many others.

But that wasn’t the whole story.

Still journeying down the healing path, what would unfold only a few years later would alter everything I thought I knew.

What truly shattered me was the loss of my brother to gun violence.

One phone call, one senseless act, and the ground beneath me gave way. Grief rushed in like a tidal wave, swallowing every ounce of strength I thought I had left. It was as if the air had been sucked from my lungs, leaving me gasping not just for breath but for meaning—for something solid to stand on. His death tore through every illusion of safety I had carefully constructed and left me raw, undone, and staring into the abyss of what it really means to live, to love, and to lose.

That was my catalyst. I could either stay buried under the rubble of trauma and grief, or I could rise.

I chose reclamation.

I turned toward the ancient practices my soul remembered: herbal medicine, energy work, nervous system healing, and spiritual alignment. Piece by piece, I began to rebuild—not into someone new, but into the truest version of myself.

This is why I guide others—not because I studied it from afar, but because I lived it, healed through it, and now carry the medicine forward. Our deepest wounds can become our greatest teachers. The very things I once thought would break me became the initiations that shaped me into a guide, a healer, and a teacher.

I’ve spent more than a decade at the intersection of clinical herbalism, energy medicine, and trauma-informed healing—bridging science and spirit to create a body of work rooted in both mastery and lived truth.

I don’t believe healing is about fixing. I believe it’s about remembering—remembering that you are already whole, already sacred, already powerful.

Holistic Horizon was born from this truth: a sanctuary where others could reclaim what I once fought to remember.

And the way I now guide others—through spirit and science, ceremony and structure—is what sets me apart.
